What do you do when you are overwhelmed?
Have you ever over committed yourself? Do you have too many projects, meetings and activities you don’t know where to start? The project folders are piled on your desk waiting for you to get to them. Your email inbox is ready to burst. How are you going to get it all done and meet your deadlines?
Are you willing to try a new approach to overwhelm?
Recently, I read an article where a person took a unique approach to this situation. She declared “STOP!” and took the day off. She went for a long walk on the beach, treated herself to her favorite coffee and pastry. Lunch was at a new café followed by a movie she’d been wanting to see. She had a relaxing dinner at home and watched a video. Before retiring for the night, she booted up her subconscious mind to help her while she slept. She simply imagined that the projects she needed to complete would be resolved in a positive way. She made a request to her subconscious mind that she’d wake up in the morning with an understanding how to proceed. She woke up the next morning with complete clarity about what she needed to do in the next few days in order to finish everything on time. She started with a freshness and vigor she hadn’t had for weeks. All projects were completed on time.
I know this sounds a little crazy. I thought so too, but I tried it and it worked for me! I created my own version of “not working” for a day and got similar results. What I also learned after that was to take some mini “not working” time during the day. I find I’m more energized and productive in the long run. Are you willing to give it a try? STOP and see what happens? Let me know how it goes. Lois@LoisCarson.com
