Is there something you want to achieve in your life or your business that’s just not happening? Are you having trouble achieving the success and happiness you desire? Are you scratching your head wondering what’s going on, why it’s not coming together?
What often occurs in this scenario is that there is something going on at a subconscious level. It’s not at your level of consciousness which is why it’s not so obvious to you. It’s a blind spot for you! The subconscious mind is very good at holding limiting beliefs that influence your behavior. These limiting beliefs make it harder for you to achieve what you want, while more empowering beliefs help you achieve the things you want in life.
The challenge is that the subconscious mind is an automatic machine that responds our beliefs and thoughts. The first 5-8 years of your life are very influential in shaping your subconscious programming. Your parents, other significant adults, culture, religion and life experiences play a key role in your beliefs.
Common areas where people unconsciously self-sabotage with limiting beliefs are in relationships, money, health, happiness, and career success.
The good news is that you have the power to change this. While this may not be easy, it is indeed possible. The first step is awareness. Be an observer of yourself. What beliefs do you have that may be influencing your life? As conscious thinking beings, we have the power to change and shift our beliefs from those that may be limiting to those that are liberating and expansive.
Here’s a personal example. Recently, I was observing that I was working too much and not “playing” enough. When asking myself what belief was driving this, I realized it was, “Get your work done before you play!” A parental voice from my childhood. Through some further questions and reflections, I designed a more empowering belief that there is room for both work and play and created some strategies to make this happen. And, yes, I’m getting my work done and having more fun! I just booked a trip to Ireland!
